View of the Palace of Celestial Purity in Beijing, with its golden-tiled roof and white stone steps. The reverse details its history: built in 1420 during the reign of Emperor Yong Lo of the Ming dynasty, it was rebuilt several times, notably in 1798 under Emperor Qia Cheng, and served as a residence and royal audience hall during the Qing dynasty.
