On the reverse, a handwritten letter in French addressed to 'Dear Sir', signed by 'Jean-Pierre Pivatton', and a printed legend stating that Clare College was founded in 1326 by Richard Baden and took the name of Clare from Lady Elizabeth de Clare, its secondary founder.
