Description

Aerial view of the Hermannsdenkmal, a monument erected between 1838–1875 to commemorate the victory of the Germans over the Roman legions in 9 AD. The back contains a handwritten letter dated 14.2.74, sent from Hameau (Hammel) in Germany, with a 30 pfennig stamp and a cancellation from Hameau. The postcard bears the inscription 'DAS HERMANNSDENKMAL' and mentions that the statue weighs 500 kg and is 7 m tall.
