Black steam locomotive of type E 2/2 9, numbered 9, in service in Choindez, with steam escaping from the chimney. The reverse indicates that it was built in 1911 by Eisenwerke Von Roll in Choindez, under the Brown system, and that the first locomotive of this type was assembled in Paris in 1878. The publisher is Ernst B. Lentwiler, with a publisher's postmark from Zurich.
