Description

Two Peul shepherds walk in front of the mud mosque of Djenné, Mali, under a clear sky. Their round hats and long cloaks protect them from the scorching sun. The reverse indicates that the mosque, rebuilt around 1830, was the most famous in Africa in the 18th century and mentions the publisher CPAPHIL as well as the series number XXXV-C1.
