Description

Aerial view of Fort Vauban in Fouras, with its imposing cylindrical tower overlooking a wooded park and a stretch of water. The reverse indicates it was built in the 13th century, renovated in the 17th century by Vauban, and measures 55 meters above sea level. French postage stamp of 20 francs dated August 18, 1961, with handwritten address to Mr. Javie in Fouras (Charente-Maritime).
