Panoramic view of the ruins of the fortress of Merle, perched on a wooded promontory above a river, in the Gorges de la Maronne. The back has a handwritten note dated August 6, 1973, addressed to Madame Lavolée in Soissons, with a 3F postage stamp and a cancellation from Hautefage (Corrèze) dated August 17, 1973.
