Description

Painting by Francisco Goya depicting the execution of Mamelouks in Madrid on May 3, 1808, following their attack on the Napoleonic cavalry. The tragic scene takes place at night in the Moncloa district, with anonymous soldiers and bloodied corpses. The reverse indicates that the work is an oil on canvas (266 x 345 cm) at the Prado Museum, with a photo by Fabio Simion and a mention of printing in Italy (D2 441-02-01).
