Interior view of the Abbey of Maria Laach, founded in 1093 by Count Palatine Henri II of the Rhine, with its impressive main altar and large mosaic of Jesus Christ above the altar. The reverse bears a handwritten letter dated October 14, 1963, sent from Maria Laach to Madame Rapoport in Paris, mentioning the warm welcome from the abbot and the beauty of the abbey. A 15 pfennig postage stamp with cancellation from Maria Laach dated 14.10.1963.
