They wear turbans adorned with ostrich feathers, jewelry made of beads and metal, and white makeup accentuating their severe features. The back indicates that they live in a hot oasis at the edge of the Sahel, near Lake Chad, and that the custom of prostration as a husband is passed down from generation to generation.
