Set of two English gold medals dated 1570–80, depicting in silhouette Queen Elizabeth I surrounded by a Tudor rose crown. The reverse shows a phoenix in relief under the royal monogram, crown, and celestial rays. Reverse: descriptive text from the British Museum, publisher Balding & Manwail Ltd, London, and serial number BM/C/ML/020.
