Description

Interior view of the crypt Notre-Dame de Sous-Terre in Chartres, showing a statue of the Virgin Mary seated on an ornate throne, with the inscription 'VIRGINI PARITVRÆ'. The architectural decor includes niches with doves and floral motifs. On the reverse, a handwritten letter dated May 21, 1956, addressed to Madame Michelle Pascond in Vincennes, mentions the card as a souvenir of the cathedral. The 12-franc postmark is canceled 'CHARTRES 22' and the publisher is 'ÉDITIONS de LUXE, Paris'.
