View of the Great Ossuary of Douaumont, a commemorative monument erected in memory of the 400,000 soldiers who fell in the defense of Verdun (1914-1918). The reverse side features a handwritten letter addressed to Madame Montreuil, dated July 18, 1954, with a 2 franc stamp depicting a soldier and a Verdun cancellation.
