Description

Postcard illustrating the S.S. Canadien, the first steamship of the Royal Mail Steamers, launched in July 1854 and entered service in May 1856. Bilingual text (English/French) on the reverse details its first voyage and its wreck in 1857. Canada stamp 38 and a postmark from Toronto dated November 21, 1969. Handwritten address to 'World of Wheels' in Toronto.
