Description

Illustrated postcard depicting the steamship Bonnington, a postal vessel operating on Kootenay, Arrow, and Okanagan lakes in British Columbia. Bilingual text in English and French describes its history: launched in 1911 by the CPR, transferred to the provincial government in 1942, and dismantled in 1946. Canada stamp 32 with cancellation from Haute-Rive (Quebec) dated January 16, 1946. On the reverse, handwritten correspondence between Paul Gagnon of Haute-Rive and the Surgical Collective Insurance Regime of the Public Service in Ottawa.
