View of the Bar Gate in Southampton, showing an imposing fortified gate with arches and stone walls, bordered by buildings and pedestrians. The reverse has a handwritten address to Madame Pignemal in Paris, France, with two British stamps (4d and 1d) and several cancellations, including one from Southampton (April 1st, 1905) and one from Paris (July 3rd, 1905).
