Description

View of the Island Castle in Ferté-sous-Jouarre (Seine-et-Marne), severely damaged after the Battle of the Marne in 1914. The printed text explains that the German army bombarded the castle to drive out the English army. The reverse side features a handwritten correspondence dated 11-9-16, addressed to Paris, with illegible handwriting and partial cancellation.
