Description

Commemorative postcard of the first direct air flight between Calcutta (India) and San Francisco (United States), organized by Pan American World Airways in 1947. It features a pink illustration of the Taj Mahal and the Golden Gate Bridge, with the text 'FIRST CLIPPER AIRMAIL FLIGHT' and 'CALCUTTA, INDIA TO SAN FRANCISCO'. Two Indian stamps (2 annas and 1 rupee) are affixed, along with a circular postmark from Calcutta dated July 1, 1947, and a blue 'BY AIR MAIL' stamp.
