Black and white view of the Notre-Dame de la Garde basilica in Marseille, perched on a rocky promontory, with visitors descending a staircase. The reverse features a handwritten letter dated October 19 in Marseille, addressed to 'My dear mother Dérie', mentioning a trip to Versailles and an address at Fort Saint-Jean. The stamp and postmark are visible at the bottom left.
