Description

Postcard showing the classical façade of the Madeleine in Paris, with French inscription on the front describing its history: begun in 1764 under Louis XV, transformed into a Roman temple in 1806 and returned to worship in 1842. The back features a handwritten correspondence addressed to Mr. Hechwaert, with an address to the Hôtel Point du Jour in Moudon, Switzerland. French postmark of 15 centimes of the Republic, canceled.
