View of the western end of the Bridge of Gard, showing the staircase leading to the aqueduct with its remaining arches. The printed text on the front mentions the addition of the staircase in 1855 and the direction N.-W. The back details the Roman construction of the aqueduct (41 km, 260 m high) and its destruction by the Visigoths (412-418), with a mention of the addition in 1743.
