Black and white view of the Gorges de la Durolle in Thiers, in the Auvergne, with a winding path between the cliffs. The reverse features a handwritten letter addressed to Mme Brisson in Bourgoin-Jallieu, signed by Louise Tapié. A red 10-centime postmark and 'THIERS' dispatch stamp are visible in the top left corner.
