Description

View of the La Trémoille Castle in Thouars, with its imposing architecture and the river below. The printed text indicates its construction in 1633 under the orders of Marie de La Tour d'Auvergne, wife of Henri-Charles de La Trémoille, and its transformation into a prison house in 1871. The reverse side presents a postmark and cancellation, with a note about the non-acceptance of correspondence on the front by certain foreign countries.
