Description

Black and white view of the ruins of the Halles of Ypres after the fire of 22 November 1914, showing a partly destroyed Gothic building with intact columns and arches, smoking amidst a devastated landscape. The back features handwritten correspondence dated 25/1/1911, addressed to 'ma Chère Blanche', with an incomplete address and a mention of 'Postcard' at the top.
