Detail of the equestrian statue of Napoleon I in Cherbourg, with the visible inscription: « I had resolved to renew the wonders of Egypt. » Back: handwritten letter dated 14.7.24 to M. and Mme Parent, arriving in Cherbourg after a tiring journey, mentioning the small town as « same impression » as Nantes, and deciding to stay in Venette at the « 62 rue Bourbonnais ».
