Black and white view of the fortified gate of Metz, with its conical towers and a bridge in the background, published by 'Real Photo' no. 107. Reverse: postcard sent from Metz on July 31, 1933, stamped with 10 centimes, with a postmark 'METZ R. LAFAYETTE 9 TIM 1933' and an inscription 'VISIT METZ ITS CATHEDRAL ITS PROMENADE'. The handwritten address is directed to 'Monsieur Ch. FISCHER, Maisons-Alfort (Seine)' and mentions '39e R.A.R.F. 2e Bataillon'.
