Colorful view of the Venetian canal with the Basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore in the background and gondolas on the water. On the reverse, a playful handwritten message in Italian, English, and German, addressed to Sophie Meier at the Hôtel du Relais in Carantec, France. Italian stamp of 40 centesimi dated August 27, 1973, with a postmark from Mestre.
