Description

Illustrated postcard depicting the S.S. Canadian, the first three-masted ship of the Allan Line, launched in July 1854 and entered Canadian service in May 1856. Bilingual text (English/French) on the reverse describes its sinking in June 1857. Canada 37 postmark canceled at Fort William on August 27, 1933.
