Description

Illustrated postcard depicting the steamship 'Empress of Japan', built in 1891 to ensure rapid delivery between Halifax and Hong Kong, with a duration of 28 days in summer and 30 days in winter. The reverse indicates it was put into service in 1908 and dismantled in 1926. The handwritten address is directed to 'Heritage Premium Coffee' in Thornhill, Ontario. Canada 2 stamp with Halifax cancellation.
