Postcard illustrating the S.S. Canadian, the first steamship of the Royal Mail Steamers, launched in July 1854 and having made its first Canadian voyage in May 1856 before sinking in June 1857. The reverse details this history in French and English, with a mention of the publisher 'Canada 38'. The handwritten address indicates a mailing from Saint-John, New Brunswick, to Toronto, Ontario.
