Description

Postcard illustrating three postal scales from the Canadian Museum of Postal History, used to weigh mail in order to calculate postage. The scale in the foreground, with a platform, uses a pendulum mechanism and was put into service in Alberta in 1955. Front: Canada stamp 1, postmark, handwritten address to Montreal, and illustration of a Dayton scale. Back: bilingual text explaining the use of the scales and their origin.
