Description

View of Fort Vaux, built between 1881 and 1884 using rubble masonry and covered with concrete from 1888. The reverse indicates that it was captured by the Germans on June 8, 1916, after a heroic resistance by Commander Raynal, and recaptured by Mangin's army on November 2, 1916. Exclusive property of the Ossuary Committee.
