Description

View of the bottom of the Cuve at Mars-la-Tour, site of the famous cavalry charge of 16 August 1870 where the Prussian flag was captured. A stone monument preserves the remains of two brothers, Lieutenant-Colonel Herman von Roëll and Lieutenant Oswald von Arnim. At the top of the ravine, another monument commemorates German Captain Julius Mebes and 5 other officers of the 16th Infantry Regiment.
