Description

View of Fort Douaumont, built with rubble masonry and covered with a concrete shell, with traces of destruction and debris. The reverse indicates that it was captured by surprise on 24 October 1916, recaptured on 25 February 1916 by the 321st Infantry Regiment ("Gauloise" Division) under the command of General Passaga. The publisher is the Douaumont Ossuary Committee, with a Nancy postmark.
